Looks like we'll have to behave out on the water now too. AB SEACURITY TO PRODUCE ROBOT BOATS Venezuela-based AB SeaCurity Commercial Boats is gearing up to manufacture its new solid-collar USV (Unmanned Surface Vessel) robot boats for water-related security projects. These craft will be used to patrol ports and waterways and the surrounding waters near ocean-going vessels, such as oil tankers and naval ships. The first remotely operated drone off the line will be the 19' ACD (Advanced Collar Design), carrying all the necessary monitoring technology supplied by MRV International, LLC, such as GPS, radar, sonar and video. Additional capabilities include obstacle avoidance, a handling system for remote re-fueling and the ability to "swarm", or work in packs. The ACD will be the eyes and ears of shoreside personnel, patrolling virtually every nook and cranny of a coastline or inland harbor. The initial models will be powered by a 6-cylinder, 260-hp Steyr diesel, pumping a Hamilton HJ213 water jet. The ACD will be quick to respond to remote piloting instructions. AB SeaCurity Commercial Boats is an official licensee of Munson-Hammerhead, manufacturer of the original, foam-collared SAFEĀ® Boats used by the US Coast Guard. The unique, new ACD collar design is narrower and higher, and provides 8" more interior space than the original craft, allowing more room for onboard electronics and other equipment. The collar also features an innovative, advanced attachment system.
