McConnell in green energy pledge news.scotsman.com/politics.cfm?id=1334072004FIRST Minister Jack McConnell today pledged that Scotland was on course to meet its renewable energy target. The Scottish Executive has approved renewable energy projects that when built will mean 18 per cent of electricity is generated from renewable sources. Mr McConnell, who was speaking at Heriot-Watt University where he delivered the annual Conoco-Philips lecture, said: "This is a significant step on the road to meeting our ambitious target of generating 40 per cent of our electricity from renewable sources by 2020. "Wind power will play an important part in our renewable future, but it is vital that we continue to invest in hydro, marine and biomass energies. I know that an investment in renewables is an investment in the future of Scotland - our country, our environment and our economy." Delivery formats for "Politics"
