Wild edible food.
If you lose your stash and have to survive by foraging.
How many of you know what is eatable by site... What if you have to leave your home in a hurry. What you grab is what you have... A couple of good small books on eatable food could help you survive. For instance did you know that the common weed purslane is eatable?Or violets.
Western edible Wild Plants by HD Harrington is a good book with drawings and ways to cook them. There are many other books that have food in your area of the country.
Dandelion greens are also an excellent source of iron, and the young leaves are good in a salad. There are many plants within our fingertips that can keep us going.
Spuce tips are high in Vitamin C... cat-tail roots are edible all year long and one can dry them and make a flour out of them in the fall.
