Here’s a campaign folks through There They Go Again. This one takes but one minute (go to the above link)! PLEASE sign up – it’s for our elderly!!!!!! THIS IS URGENT – we do not have much time to be heard!!!!
Apparently, Bush wants to pass a bill that will PROHIBIT Medicare from getting the best price for senior’s prescriptions. As if they don’t already pay too much for prescriptions. Will the raping ever end?

Here are a few excerpts from the above publication:
11/17/03. This weekend, Republican leaders in Congress and President Bush announced some details of the prescription drug deal they have been writing behind closed doors. They want to rush the deal through Congress by the end of the week.
Drug prices are going up 3 times the rate of inflation in America and American seniors pay more than seniors in Canada and other countries for the medicine they need to stay healthy.
The deal PROHIBITS Medicare from negotiating lower prescription prices (proven to fairly bring down costs by the U.S. Veteran’s Administration). Consumer’s Union found that even after the drug deal is enacted, beneficiaries would pay more than they do today because of skyrocketing prices. This major victory for drug companies makes NO sense for Medicare.
The deal would start Medicare privatization, subsidize HMOs, means test, and is designed to starve Medicare of necessary funds – making Newt Gingrich’s goal that Medicare “wither on the vine,” a reality.
The deal would give HMOs billions of taxpayer dollars to encourage them to sell the health care coverage that Medicare provides now. In some parts of the country – Medicare would be forced to “compete” with these subsidized HMOs. Even if you stay in the traditional Medicare system, your premiums might go up. If you leave Medicare for an HMO – you can’t go back to traditional Medicare and the HMO can change the terms of your care (benefits, premiums) every two years. This competition would lure the healthy and wealthy out of Medicare, threatening the program’s stability. This “demonstration project” could force about 6 million American seniors into managed care, threatening seniors’ choice of doctor.
