Can you trust the Government with your drinking water? **************************** Did EPA mislead public on water? Agency audits suggest reports overstated utilities’ record By Guy Gugliotta THE WASHINGTON POST www.msnbc.com/news/948891.asp?0cl=c3&cp1=1WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 — The Environmental Protection Agency’s inspector general is investigating whether the agency is deliberately misleading the public by overstating the purity of the nation’s drinking water, according to EPA officials and agency documents. THE INQUIRY was launched June 18, five days before then-EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman released the “Draft Report on the Environment,” which stated that “94 percent of the population served by community water systems were served by systems that met all health-based standards.” Internal agency documents, however, show that EPA audits for at least five years have suggested that the percentage of the population with safe drinking water is much lower — 79 to 84 percent in 2002 — putting an additional 30 million Americans at potential risk. ****************** GET YOUR WATER FILTERS ladies and gents. I don't doubt there are pharmaceuticals in the drinking water delivered to America's homes. After all, most water systems quietly "reclaim" water. Anyone's guess as to where that water originated.
I wouldn't trust a government report on water quality, they might "cook the books". It is best to get an independent lab to run a test. But that test will be expensive. Better yet - spend the money on a good filtering system :-)

I used to work in a water/soil testing laboratory for a Consulting Engineers firm and had my parents water sampled.
It ended up with high levels of Chlorine, Copper and dead bacteria.
I'm glad they are at least using one of those dept. store-bought tap filters now.
I'm trying to convince them to get a Berkey.
